 In the interest of progress, I am also in favor of landing the patch for
 this resizing code before we complete the prompt/confirmation dialog in
 #7255, especially if that improves our chances of testing out the resizing
 code among a wider audience in 4.5a4.

 Simply putting this code behind a pref seems good for now (especially if
 we can get this code to automatically solve weird things like #14098).
