If you can tolerate the fact that the system is Israeli run, Safe-mail.net is easily acquired via Tor and SEEMS pretty safe (but no telling to what extent the Israeli govt/Mossad has its fingers in the setup). I would LOVE to see an EFF-sponsored/operated tor mail system. I'd go for it in a heartbeat.

Very good find, ( http://tormail.net/ ) and interesting. I wonder if
EFF can set up a similar free email service that works similarly on
the Tor network.
Is there a list of free email services for which you can sign up for via Tor?
Gmail always asks me for SMS / Phone verification via Tor, when I try
to sign up for a new account.
