Hi list,
I'm happy and thankful that I'll be able to work on Bittorrent
integration for Thandy as a Google Summer of Code student! It's great
to have this awesome opportunity again, after working on Puppetor
during last year's Summer of Code. I'm a 3rd-year physics student at
the University of Erlangen, and plan to graduate in a couple of years.
During the last 15 months, I have been spending quite some time
working on Tor and related tasks. I hope to continue doing so for the
next years, it's fun :-)
In case you are unfamiliar with Thandy: It is a secure updater that
will help to get important security updates to Tor users more quickly.
Read more about it in its specification [ http://git.torproject.org/checkout/thandy/master/specs/thandy-spec.txt
], or come and talk about it via IRC. I'm usually available in #tor
on OFTC with nickname Sebastian.
To be able to really deploy Thandy as part of the regular Tor bundles,
there needs to be a solution for patch-day load. I believe that a
working integration of bittorrent in Thandy can help mitigate that
load, and will bring the Tor project closer to shipping its secure
updater.
If you have any comments, questions or concerns regarding my project,
please let me know.
Looking forward to coding for Tor this summer,
Sebastian
