Most likely what happened was that you were directing the log output
to a file rather than stdout...

In the long term I'd like to see us develop a python GUI. Our backend
python support is far better than C++, so we should be able to quickly
meet and exceed Vidalia (Kamran was able to almost reach feature
parity over a summer). But that'll take someone who is dedicated to
seeing us have a GUI that furnishes.
