[tor-onions] SSL certificates for hidden services/.onion domains

I think it's an interesting idea. It would be a great fit for Let's
Encrypt, and it seems they have already been thinking about it:

Keep in mind traffic to .onion hidden services is already encrypted via
Tor. This limits the usefulness of SSL/TLS somewhat.
