Just FYI, TorChat and Tor Messenger are 2 different things.  TorChat is
a long-ago-abandoned project that's somewhat similar in design to the
still-developed project Ricochet; Tor Messenger is an Instantbird fork
(similar to how Tor Browser is a Firefox fork).

(I don't have any answer to your actual question, which I guess is about
TorChat, hopefully someone else will chime in on that.)
