If you like. Grab the pre14 release from http://freehaven.net/tor/dist/
and follow the directions in INSTALL to set up a client. It should work
smoothly and have few bugs ;) Let me know how it goes.

If you like it and have a well-located server you want to run an onion
router on, feel free (there's a little section in the README that tells
you how to set it up as a server). We've got about 10 servers currently.
