I am sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. The underlying problem
you witnessed is a Firefox bug, thus it would not have helped you if you
used Firefox instead of Tor Browser (although I've heard Mozilla shipped
a first fix that should mitigate the problem for most of Firefox's users
by now). For further details see:

I hope that puts the bug into a better perspective. We plan to release a
new Tor Browser as soon as a fix from Mozilla's side is available (which
is hopefully the case today or tomorrow). Meanwhile there is a workaround at

However, flipping the preference there should only be done _temporarily_
as it disables a security feature.
