 regarding the scalability issues with Jitsi, they seem to be claiming to
 be able to handle hundreds of streams in parallel, server side:

 so maybe the experience we had with things breaking up at 10-12 people is
 just on the client side, and could be fixed with the `channelLastN` tweak.

 also, arma: if i remember correctly, the reason gaba asked me for this is
 exactly because they had reliability issues in the session they hosted on
 another server... so that's also something to keep in mind: if someone
 else is hosting the server, I can't fix it.
