 I think only a very small part of users want to download the tor source
 tarball (mainly packagers and expert users), so I would not expect it to
 be on the main download page.

 Maybe the "Advanced Install Options" link could point to a page allowing
 to download the Tor source tarball, Tor expert bundle, and Tor Browser
 alpha?
