Comment:

 Looks like a consequence of #21969. That explains "there was no circuit
 related to this username/password combination" and "timed out waiting for
 circuit". The questions are:
 1. Why does tor report its timeout as timeout of duckduckgo.com?
 2. Would Torbutton switch circuits otherwise?
 BTW, it still happens with tor 0.3.2.9.
