Comment:

 I admit that empty objects are not terribly useful.  But they're empty
 objects in an array, and even an empty object in a given position can be
 considered as information.  We cannot remove them without possibly
 breaking clients, even though that's probably an edge case.  But the saved
 bandwidth is likely not worth the effort of putting out a new major
 version.  I'm closing this as wontfix, but thanks for the suggestion
 anyway!
