 Yes, this compiles without warnings on macOS 10.12 clang i386.

 Fair enough.
 (macOS on x86_64 compiles and emulates i386 code, so that's what I use.)

 Not many of us have big-endian machines, either.
 Except apparently for debian's build farm, which catches bugs like this.
