 Triaging here.

 I think we should aim to implement this for 0.3.0. Ideally we would even
 get it in 0.2.9 along with the main RSOS code, but the ship has sailed.

 I'm also not sure how this direct-connection/IPv6 stuff ended up sneaking
 into this ticket. Shouldn't that be a different ticket?
