 I deactivated all plugins (5) so that just TorBirdy was active - and the
 issue can be reproduced.
 Deactivating TorBirdy and the issue went away.

 To reproduce the issue: marked an arbitrarily message in as unread, went
 to another folder, press 'n' and you sshould get the popup "Advance to
 next unread message in <folder>"
