There, I just sent you more logs for this analysis.
Hmm, I don't have a good answer to your question about other resources. I
might have made it sound too obvious that there's churn in the Tor
network. I know that, because I analyzed relay uptimes years ago when
designing the requirements for relays to become useful hidden-service
directories. But I can't think of a good source to learn similar facts
about the Tor network. For example, the graphs on Metrics only show daily
averages, so those graphs would not have helped, either. I'd say it's
easiest if you look for things that you find unusual, and I try to help
making sense of those. Note that I only guessed about the reasons for the
daily pattern in your graph, I can't say for sure what would have caused
them.
