 Well, the Chrome devs just closed 107793 as wontfix, because the ticket
 specifically requested a read-write API that could interfere with SSL
 connections, and the complexity (and in my opinion, security) tradeoff
 wasn't worth it. I've asked in the ticket if a read-only API might be in
 the works.
