 Okay, this was a bug on my side: I forgot the commit that added the font
 whitelist. Sorry, for the noise. Interestingly, the test on ip-check.info
 is falling back to the CSS test. I forgot how the code worked but one
 guess would be that it is doing this because it could not find any known
 font at all with JS...
