 For what it's worth, this isn't just Vidalia. This affects any controller;
 if you try to add a hidden-service to a running Tor, and the directory you
 propose doesn't exist but the Tor user can't create it, the running Tor
 exits (and doesn't even appear to close() the controller connection,
 although I'm still confirming that).

 It would be nice if Tor just sent back an error on the control connection
 (i.e. rolls back to the previously-working configuration when anything at
 all fails in a SETCONF).
