Comment:

 Based on those tests, it seems like a good idea to merge the patch into
 0.2.5.  Because of our use of Z_SYNC_FLUSH, we aren't actually losing any
 real data here, though, so I say this is ''not'' a backport candidate for
 0.2.4.

 Merging patch, closing ticket.  Please open new ticket(s) as needed if
 there are lingering mysteries to be chased down.
