 FYI: We've now got a patch for #3944 (the prefs update overwrite issue)
 which I plan to get into FF17-ESR TBBs (currently TBB-alpha, but soon to
 become TBB-stable in a week or two). Once that is merged, directly
 overwriting an old TBB dir with a new tarball extraction shouldn't have
 any remaining user-visible impact.
