 It's nice to be able to help someone.

 You said that you made changes to the network settings in Vidalia's
 control panel: If I assume you meant that you clicked "Settings" ->
 "Network" and made some changes there - then these changes should be saved
 in `vidalia.conf` and not in the `torrc` file.
