Comment:

 If gssapi was implemented (not currently, not really useful for 99.999999%
 of people anyways) my concerns would be a little more valid as the actual
 data stream gets authenticated after the auth negotiation.

 Without gssapi I don't think there's a correctable issue besides more
 clear warnings.
