 Sounds like the http site redirects to the https site.

 I guess we want a virthost on the webserver that handles Host: requests to
 the .onion address and redirects them to https on the .onion address?

 Does the trac hidden service have a virtport entry for 443?

 Should we just write the .onion address with https wherever it's written,
 and call that close enough?
