Comment(by runa):
I've had a look at the cloud providers mentioned above, here's what I
think:
'''softlayer.com''': We have an account and we have a contact who would be
happy to help move this along, worth looking into.
'''bigv.io''': I have requested access to the beta, we'll see what
happens.
'''hetzner.de''': We would have to host and maintain a full operating
system image. But it should be easy for people to use. And it's cheap.
'''cloudshare.com''': Restrictions on environments unless you buy some
extra feature, not really an option.
'''hatsize.com''': Seems to be more about providing platforms for software
demos and training sessions, prices not listed on the page either. A
comment on one page says that the pay-as-you-go option starts at
$40/user/day.
'''skytap.com''': Fancy solutions for companies with lots of money, the
website says that they have a "simple, low cost subscription model
starting at $500/month".
'''elastichosts.com''': Costs $44 per month, which is more expensive than
just using Amazon EC2.
'''gogrid.com''': Looks promising, but we'll have to pay $3/month for each
custom image we want to store on their server.
