 Well, you can try running your Tor relay and see if it complains in the
 message window. Is there a way we can make that work better for you?

 Checking whether you can talk to the local router and set up port
 forwarding is actually much simpler than checking whether you're reachable
 from the outside world. The right way to check outside reachability is to
 connect out to something, and then ask it to connect back to the address
 you specify. We wrote a program that does that -- it's called Tor. :) I'm
 not sure it's a smart move to try to build some other separate thing, and
 then maintain it too.
