 I tried:
 {{{
 git filter-branch --tree-filter 'if test -d spec ; then  mv spec/* . &&
 rmdir spec ; fi'
 }}}
 and it turned out ok for me.  I don't have a good place to upload it for
 now, but the same command line should work fine for others too.

 Sebastian, can I pass this back over to you now?
