 That's an interesting idea. However, I remember getting that right was not
 trivial and I feel there is no need to introduce new side effects so close
 to the release. I think the patch is not big and well understood and does
 its job (nice work mcs/brade!) which sounds like the ideal candidate for
 8.0.
