Comment:

 The installer is explicitly warning that your old Tor Browser will be
 overwritten. It seems to me that included bridge configuration etc. as
 well. While we could work around those things I feel that's not a good
 approach as it sets the expectations wrong and is thus error-prone and
 confusing. Just use a separate directory for now. I think we might be able
 to avoid your problem, though, with #18367. Marking this as a duplicate of
 it.
