Hello,
This has been reported TWENTY ONE MONTHS AGO.
https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/13592
I even provide a solution as requested and it's still not fixed.
I don't understand why something so simple as this has not been fixed?
I understand security is of the most importance here and making the
application work, but having it
look like a 1999 GTK1 application too is making this look like CRAP in
Linux.
From the stand point of making something look polished and professional I
know what I'm talking about!
So I hope someone is PLEASE listening and will finally correct this!
I'm a Unix geek, so from the perspective of Linux/Unix at times in certain
apps, you'll see this
mentality.
But in real business, when you are promoting a product, looks and
presentation are very important.
Sure, I get it, what's under the hood is more important, but someone
should also be taking the time,
to write up a few scripts and add a theme to the Linux browser, as an
example to have it look
professional and polished.
Right now it makes me feel like no one could care less about this, and
just throw the Linux crowd
whatever crap we can make for them!
Here's what I threw together as an example that could simply be added into
all Linux browsers for a
theme, and I also added in a red mouse cursor to make it stand out as red,
in case someone ran
Firefox and Tor at the same time, to be reminded if they are not paying
attention, which is which.
As example the end-user runs the 'start.sh' script
---------------------------
start.sh
cd /home/foo/.tor-browser-linux64-6.0.2_en-US
./gtkrc-path
gtkrc-path
GTK2_RC_FILES=/home/foo/.tor-browser-linux64-6.0.2_en-US/gtkrc
/home/foo/.tor-browser-linux64-6.0.2_en-US/start-tor-browser.desktop
gtkrc
# Set the Gtk theme
include "/home/foo/.themes/Numix/gtk-2.0/gtkrc"
# Set the icon theme
gtk-icon-theme-name=Numix
# Set the mouse cursor
gtk-cursor-theme-name="redglass"
# Set the font
style "Newspaper"
{
font_name = "Newspaper 9"
}
widget_class "*" style "Newspaper"
gtk-font-name = "Newspaper 9"
CAN WE PLEASE FINALLY GET THIS FIXED? YES YOU COULD SAY I'VE FIXED IT,
WHAT'S THE PROBLEM? THE PROBLEM
ISN'T JUST FOR ME, BUT OTHERS, OF LESS SKILL USING LINUX THAT DEAL WITH
THIS! IT'S FOR EVERYONE PLEASE!
I WILL SAY THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION, HOPING THIS TIME
IT'S FINALLY FIXED AFTER MAKING
PEOPLE WAIT OVER A YEAR OR POSSIBLY MORE FOR THIS!
