Comment:

 I don't know about the datatables API for this, it may be easy it may be
 hard.

 Customising via the URL is definitely a hard problem for the same reason
 that #25673 is hard. We just don't have a way of easily adding key value
 pairs to the URL.

 Setting to low priority for now.
